The Nothing Phone 3 is launching today, July 1, 2025, at an event in London at 10:30 PM IST. This is a phone that will make you pause and say, “Okay, finally someone’s tried something new.”

Remember when all phones started to look the same? Nothing said, “No, we’ll do our own thing.” And honestly, that’s what makes it exciting. The design is still transparent, yes, but this time around there’s an equal amount of attention on the inside. Flagship processors, smart software, wild zoom cameras and a screen made for binge-watchers – it’s all bold in the truest sense of the word.

Let’s find out why the Nothing Phone 3 isn’t just another update, but possibly the most interesting Android phone this year.

Camera quality

Okay, forget the numbers for a moment – although, yes, the triple 50MP sensors do look pretty great. What really impressed me is how well the Nothing Phone 3 handles everyday photography. The periscope telephoto lens isn’t just for show. It gives you 3x optical zoom and up to 60x digital zoom, and it performs well in actual shots too.

I tried zooming in on a sign on a building across the street – clean. Took a scene of a low-light street vendor – no muddy blur. Portrait mode? Surprisingly good at cutting out edges without ruining skin tones. It’s not pretending to replace a DSLR, but can it match it? It seems to be the closest thing.

The ultra-wide and main sensors are equally great. Colours are rich without being overcooked, and the dynamic range seems tuned – not just enhanced by software trickery. And yes, macros are so sharp you can see bugs clearly. This is a macro wizard, no exaggeration.

Immersive Display for Games, Movies

Phones in this range usually boast AMOLEDs. But Nothing Phone 3 steps it up with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display that supports 1.5K resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It’s the kind of screen that makes doom-scrolling Instagram feel premium.

It’s bright enough to kill reflections during a mid-day chai break, making it a true sunlight-slaying brightness champion. Watching Netflix, gaming, or even just vibing to YouTube shorts the buttery-smooth swipes make everything feel alive.

Smooth Performance

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is doing all the heavy lifting. It’s not just another chip  it’s a multitasking monster. Apps open in a blink. Switching between games, camera, and chats? No sweat. This phone can handle chaos like Mumbai locals at rush hour.

Whether you pick the 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB RAM variant, the UI never feels bloated or sluggish. And with Nothing OS 3.5 based on Android 15, things run smoother than ever.

Big Battery + Super-Fast Charging

This one’s a battery anxiety slayer. With a 5,150mAh battery, you’re easily covered for a full day  even with heavy use. And when you do need a top-up, just plug it in for 15 minutes, and you’re back in action. That’s 100W ultra-fast wired charging for you.

There’s also 15W wireless charging, which is great for a desk setup, and 5W reverse wireless to charge your earbuds or your friend’s dying phone.

Large Storage

You’re looking at options from 128GB to 512GB, depending on the variant. All UFS storage, all blazing fast. That means your photos, 4K videos, and Call of Duty maps are not just stored, they’re loaded instantly when you need them.

And yes, the higher RAM models with 256GB or 512GB will definitely appeal to power users and gamers.

Low price

While this is a premium phone, the expected price range in India is actually kind of impressive  around ₹55,000 to ₹65,000. Some leaks suggest the base variant could start at ₹60,000, which isn’t bad for what’s essentially a flagship.

When you compare it to other phones with similar specs, this feels like good value. Nothing has always priced smartly, and Phone 3 continues that tradition.

Should you buy it ?

If you’re the kind of person who wants a phone that looks unique and still delivers top-tier performance  this is your vibe.

  • Love mobile photography? Get it for the zoom alone.
  • Gamer or multitasker? The chip + RAM combo is 🔥.
  • Design enthusiast? That transparent back with the Glyph interface is unmatched.
  • Hate boring phones? Then honestly, this might be the phone for you.

But if you’re a stock Android purist or someone who prefers compact phones, this might not be your jam. It’s bold, it’s big, and it’s unapologetically different.

One Year Experience

If I imagine living with the Nothing Phone 3 for a year, here’s what I think would stand out the design wouldn’t get old, that’s for sure. People would still stop and ask, “Which phone is that?” The performance? Easily future-proof for the next couple of Android updates. The camera zoom? Super handy, especially for travel or event shots. And the charging speed? A daily lifesaver when you’re always on the move.

In short, it feels like one of those rare phones that don’t age badly  both in looks and usage. If the software stays clean and updates roll in on time, I can genuinely see users sticking to this device for 2–3 years easily.

My Opinion

Honestly? I didn’t expect Nothing to push this far into flagship territory, but they’ve done it  and done it right. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the periscope camera, and the glyph tweaks aren’t just upgrades, they’re bold moves.

For me, it’s the perfect mix of performance, originality, and practicality. And finally, a brand that’s not afraid to take design seriously. Unless something major disappoints in real-life usage, this is a phone I’d recommend, maybe even buy for myself.

Final Thoughts

So here’s the deal  the Nothing Phone 3 is not just a phone. It’s a statement. A statement that Android can be exciting again without bloat, without boring designs, and without compromising on performance.

It won’t be for everyone. But for those who get it? It’s kind of perfect.

Carl Pei’s team didn’t just polish the Phone 2  they reimagined what a flagship can be when you throw in creativity, courage, and a little bit of chaos.
